Course Ratings

Course ratings give you an idea of what to expect on race day. Use course ratings to help pick the perfect event, dial-in your training, and prepare for a fun and rewarding race.

Each course is assessed in terms of difficulty across four areas, measured on a scale of 1 to 3 of difficulty:

Elevation Gain: How much climbing you’ll do across the entire event
Altitude: How high the lowest point on the course is above sea level
Terrain: The type of surfaces you’ll be running or walking on
Weather: The average high and low temperatures expected on event day

Courses where the max difficulty rating on at least two attributes are designated MAX RACE, Spartan’s hardest races.
