Course ratings give you an idea of what to expect on race day. Use course ratings to help pick the perfect event, dial-in your training, and prepare for a fun and rewarding race.
Each course is assessed in terms of difficulty across four areas, measured on a scale of 1 to 3 of difficulty:
Elevation Gain: How much climbing you’ll do across the entire event
Altitude: How high the lowest point on the course is above sea level
Terrain: The type of surfaces you’ll be running or walking on
Weather: The average high and low temperatures expected on event day
1. Elevation Gain
2. Altitude
3. Terrain Type
4. Temperature - Based on yearly averages
Courses where the max difficulty rating on at least two attributes are designated MAX RACE, Spartan’s hardest races.
