Obstacle attempts are required and encouraged for all racers. Spartans always try!
Obstacle completion is not required.
If a racer cannot complete an obstacle we encourage them to problem-solve and/or seek help before they decide to try again another day.
If your racer is competing in the 3km Competitive Heat, they must attempt all obstacles. Failure to complete or unwillingness to complete an obstacle results in a penalty. For any obstacle that has a penalty loop, the loop is required, where there isn't a penalty loop then a 15-burpee penalty is required. Penalty loops will be marked with RED tape, as opposed to Kids' course tape which is orange. For a burpee to be counted it must be executed as chest to ground and feet in the air.
